MRs. Sullivan

My teaching career got its start when I became a ski instructor in 1990 at the Otsego Ski Club in Gaylord. From "make a pizza" to skiing backwards while watching a novice skier build confidence with every run, I knew I was hooked to being an educator (only in a warm classroom from then on).
I graduated from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a major in Language Arts and a double-minor in Social Studies and Science. I also have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University (Go Green!).
I have been teaching with TCAPS since 1999. Over the years, I have been an instructor at East Bay Elementary, West Junior High, Eastern Elementary, and now at East Middle School. I'm happy to be with sixth-grade students teaching a subject I love. Social Studies is the best because we read, we write, we do science and math, we draw and design, we act and sing, and we laugh while we're learning about the Western Hemisphere and beyond.
My husband Chris and I have been married for 20 years. We have two sons - Riley (16) and Owen/Sully (14). We also have a lovely, fluffy, sweet dog named Luna. In my time away from school, I love to watch the Detroit Tigers win (especially in person at Comerica Park), read long books, cook spicy food, travel to faraway lands, and hang at the beach with my family. Both my sons play baseball, so every summer is spent watching A LOT of innings. That's a sure-fire way to make me a baseball fan!
